Its the opposite for me, I think ive played games for too long because I seem to always sus out the intended solution, but she only recently started playing games and she finds the most absurd ways to finish puzzles.

The consequences of what they ask are literally 3d games stuck on 2d planes. even if you can technically move around in 3d, every single puzzle would need to exist with a hallway. Its fucking insane.
Theres a reason why oot's "puzzles" literally occur in corridors or amount to no more than applying an obtained item to a given switch (vidrel), because the more dimensions you give to a puzzle, the more factors you must account for, and the harder it is to keep consistency in experience.

I also notice that people will complain about a new game using old designs that they champion in the context of the old design.
The most obvious and glaring example is with zelda, gold skultullas are everything that people hate about koroks but actually MORE obtuse.
Or how about the ascend ability functioning (as in the end result) exactly like a hookshot used to, the only difference is that one has a big glaring sign saying "use hookshot here" and the other you have to first think of using it, then fight a spot where it will work.
OoT repeats the goddess story two or three times in a 4-5 minute unskippable cutscene, but a skipable cutscene of the ancestor champions repeating 3 times (I assume youd watch it the first time) is too much?
