Justice League Gods and Monsters isn't nearly as good as this movie, but it also pulls the whole "What if Superman's parents were evil" schtick and I've always thought that was the best supervision of the character. I'm a sucker for "We are who we choose to be" message. (which is a quote from Iron Giant which also uses a Superman allegory).
