Nah, he needed a friendlier look to contrast with the Bananza forms.

Gotta say, while I like the Bananza transformations replacing the animal friends/barrels, I don't really like the designs. I think they should've taken more cues from Rare. Imagine if Kong Bananza looked more like Rare's DK design? It would've been the perfect send-off. Have Snake look more like Rattly, etc.
(Also not a fan of the pants-wearing Kritters, they look too bulky. DK64 had the perfect Kritter design that looks intimidating but still obviously grunts, it's too bad they're stuck in crappy blocky N64 graphics.)
