There will be a moment where it finally hits Ralsei that he's going to lose everything he cares about, and he'll finally decide that he wants to LIVE and doesn't want to just meekly accept his fate (whatever it may be). He'll pull some powerful fire spell out of his ass and it'll be a super hype moment, and he'll be more assertive and confident afterwards.
