I'm on a 3700x and thinking about upgrading. A 5950x would obviously it would be a marked improvement, but AM4 is also a dead platform that doesn't support DDR5.
Nevertheless, buying a 5950x (especially at the price I've found it at) and slotting it into my existing AM4 setup would be much cheaper than buying a new motherboard + new RAM + new CPU. The question is thus: Is DDR5 actually worth it, and how long is a 5950x gonna be good for?
