Not true. It just gets increasingly stupid the further you deviate. Resident Evil movies are a prime example. Every one except the first couple is utterly retarded. It's more that people want good zombie stories that take the premise seriously and can be plausible. You're only going to find that now in games, comics and books. American zombie movies and tv shows are incredibly played out. Koreans did different takes on it but you won't watch them.

Kingdom was the best new zombie story. It was fresh and an interesting way to take it. Very interesting to set it back in the past before firearms were big. They only have a few muzzleloaders that take a while to fire.
