That has never stopped them doing something before. It doesn't stop their MMO from being the number one cashcow either...I'm basically just saying that instead of that shitty old MMO with bad gameplay and a subscription service....there should definitely be a new FF online game that is free to play for everyone. Whether it's modern season pass monetization bullshit, or just straight up gacha or just the cash shop or it's all three. Either way I think it needs to happen. Their games do not compete in the modern market and new releases get overshadowed by the new franchises. XIV cannot and will not last forever and they can't just let all those pay pigs leave to go elsewhere.

Who doesn't want an online FF game that has real gameplay? SoP/XIV style Jobs, with XVI action and Rebirth ATB, online multiplayer Hunts/superbosses/dungeons, PVP, mini games, racing. Custom characters, new characters, old fan favorites. Every kind of game that people like to play today, that Square Enix has already developed across their different titles. Get all of that shit into the same game. Final Fantasy toy box of epic proportions. A world to fly around in on an airship with lots of activities.

Fortnite has literally replaced the toybox for so many kids. I've asked my nephews "would you play a Final Fantasy game that was free on your Xbox that played like FFVII Remake?" and I heard a resounding "yes". That game simply doesn't exist. Currently, one of them is playing Crisis Core on the Switch. If there was a Final Fantasy-Fortnite, he would absolutely be playing it!
