I believe the reality of the situation is that Humanity won't give up eating meat not necessarily because it's super, duper tasty or anything like that, but because it's a huge and important food source that can be used to sustain a large population and profit from it as well. The only way we could realistically stop and limit animal farming for sustenance is by creating an alternative food source that fulfills and sustains the important dietary benefits and quantity of animal based products for humans. Until then, we still live in a world where it ain't all Sunshine and rainbows, anything bad and disastrous that could happen to the world, let alone a country, will happen eventually, and we're still humans trying to out compete and survive against one another in some shape or form, so until all of those issues get sorted away somehow, then we beggars can't be choosers.
