Literally a perfect videogame

Still excellent to this day. Barely feels like a 2001 game

Why do people say this game is pretentious? It's just trying to be a minimalistic "boy meets girl" story about bravery and trust

Imagine thinking this game is pretentious. Ueda just wanted to tell a simple "boy meets girl" story about bravery and trust, plus he wanted to make a game inspired by the cinematic platformers that he liked playing on his Amiga computer (Another World, Flashback, Prince of Persia). He also wanted the game to have a distinctive vibe so that it would stand out from the crowd.

Glad this game hasn't gotten a remaster. It's already perfect just the way it is.
