this, combined with geological problems, huge amounts of isolation, mediocre internet that used to be dogshit 5+ years ago. The infrastructure simply wasn't there, the guy you might need to do art/coding etc is probably willing, but lives in another city, which is 3 hours of driving away at best, or a flight, and he's 1 of like 3 guys in the entire country that can do what you need, assuming you can even find him.
It simply wasn't an option unless you networked in university and found your entire dev team there and convinced+funded them to work on your project, otherwise give up or outsource to the philipines online.
Also we got the woke mindvirus pretty bad here, and the art-grants are gatekept by silver spooned champagne socialists who wouldn't dream of throwing a buck to a gaming company when they could fund yet another hideous art piece to be placed somewhere obnoxious and inconvenient in a major city centre.

Well its not beautiful or interesting so if its art it must be making a statement. What artistic statement does it make? I wasted thousands of dollars of crystals gluing them to a cheap chair?
Its not art, its just contrived bullshit that charlatans in the art appraisal business pretend has value so the people buying it can commit tax fraud by donating trash to some bullshit museum.

That's literally no different than any other artistic medium. Quality work requires a human artist using their talents to properly compose the work and make sure that the final product is good. "Good AI art" requires that the artist telling the computer what to do is knowledgeable about what a good image looks like, knows how to use the assorted prompting tools to tard-wrangle the computer into making something similar to what he has envisioned, knows when to reject outputs outright, and knows how to identify and fix the AI's flaws with post-processing techniques.
