You can't really compare them to Susie and Noelle, tho. They were always side characters and not the main focus which was mostly Frisk, Flowey and HOPE

Here its Kris and Susie from the start with Noelle getting into the story in chapter 2 with Berdly and with one surface level trait of having a crush on Susie. Its just bad because in Undertale there is no intention of cucking the player, while in Undertale you get dialog options to show interest in Noelle, Susie or Ralsei so the game cucking you with a very bland shallow attraction is very annoying. Playing as Susie and spending time with Noelle would have been a much better development of this "Deltarune's flagship romance"
