It's good you have at least some experience instead of jumping into this blindly. I would still recommend you start small though. Making an RPG is a massive undertaking and it'd help to instead do it piecemeal instead of one massive project.
I'd suggest breaking down what features you'd like to add/are staples of the genre and developing them on their own before smashing them all together into one big project. Some examples of what to look into are inventory systems, battle gameplay, levelling etc.
It'll also help to start drafting ideas for what sort of story you'd like to tell, just spitball ideas and see where it goes.
