Typical Fooly Cooly director. Gives you breadcrumbs and expects you to build your own story out of it. What we know about Deux is that despite not seeing herself as a person and being largely unemotional (unless kira-kira is involved), she still carries around a stuffed animal, so is probably still affection starved like most newtypes. As a Murusame, and a particularly ghastly looking one at that, she's probably in constant pain from her procedures. Likely, and this is where it gets headcanony, the kira-kira was the closest thing she has to experiencing affection and positive emotions, and is the only thing she looked forward to in her miserable life. Hence, her going nutso when she loses it.

I think that's why people have so much difficulty accepting her death and still believe she's just in hiding. It didn't really vibe with the overall theme of GQX either, especially towards the end, but it is a Khara tradition by this point to bad end the most miserable and unluckiest character while having the one who purposefully screws up his/her happy life get a happy ending.

My bigger gripe is how did she access the kira-kira. From Gate's reaction of her talking about the sparkles, it doesn't seem to something that is know about or intended (he treats Deux like an inconvenient loon). We find out later that kira-kira seems to be tied to Lalah OOParts, so this raises questions of how the Federation got their hands on those parts.
