Back in the day there were no college classes you could go to for video game development. Now people are taught to make corporate product instead of dev teams being filled with smart people with a vision making unique games. I noticed the past ~15 years UI in mainstream games have become so homogenized in games and it makes them all look like they come from the same studio (Pic related). In reality it is just what people are taught in these college classes with UX design and other topics, there is no unique vision, it is just apply basic structure learned in school and only do that.
