We all know it's because the team who made FFXIV what it is had moved on to other projects and if you look at FFT remaster you'll see that a lot of the old head FF14 devs are working on that/ have worked on that as they're currently announcing the producers and devs there.
It was a new inexperienced team who took over and Dawntrail is the result, YoshiP took the ffxiv fanbase for granted.
