Shuuji is very mellow. He reminds me of Four Murasame or the OG Challia Bull a lot, just a very mysterious short lived Newtype character.
It is a love triangle between a genki girl, a mysterious boy, and quiet girl trying to find her place. Gundam has a few shit Newtype love triangles. idkIt isn't really trying to be Anna Karenina or some shit.

I have seen Dunbine, but I dropped G-Witch at The Prologue. Should I pick G Witch back up? I started laughing at the Happy Birthday shit, I thought it was hilarious and corny as fuck. Does the show get actually serious/better?
