They see struggling against the end of the world as futile, lament how sealing away Jevil made them lose their sense of purpose, and wish that the Addisons had any chance of winning against them. (You) collecting the crystals gives them some hope that things might really change. Gaster also encourages you to fight the Knight for the crystal, plus Gerson is clearly a good guy and he willingly shares his crystal. Seam will likely be a boss fight, but it will be more of a "prove yourself" fight like Gerson so they can feel satisfied knowing that (You) really will change fate, and overall, the crystals seem like a good thing.
