I decided to plug in my G29 pedals after taking off the insulation for the throttle wires and through some dumb luck of alignment it now works again
I can't imagine how slim the margins must be for the wires to be making proper contact right now so I have left on the casing on the floor without any screws being used
We shall see if this lasts
