The Thing wasn’t some eternal “masterpiece” when it dropped, it bombed so hard it made Carpenter go cry into his synths. It was millennials who dug it out of the bargain bin and watched it on VHS in the early 2000s that turned it into a cult classic. They were the ones posting on proto-forums, showing their friends in basements, and screaming about “practical effects kino” . Without them, it’d be collecting dust next to Event Horizon in the forgotten sci-fi section. Millennials are literally the reason every film snob today treats it like holy scripture. Fuck you, millennials, you ruined horror discourse forever by being right one single time.
