Everything about Destiny 2 was this and it completely destroyed anything interesting or worth talking about in the setting at all, as well as retroactively turned every new and every other existing character into a homo.
Destiny 1 was a mess but it was clear through its grimoire that the original Bungie writers locked in the basement writing them had incredible ideas for a rich world to explore but never fully explain, because how would you when narratively so much knowledge of the universe was lost in the collapse and you only get glimpses of it in your excursions into space.
I don't need Dark Souls level of limited piece meal storytelling, but these modern fucks have zero understanding of subtlety and restraint.
