Mahjong Saikyo-sen New Rule: Introduction of Time Limit System.
Basic RulesEach player is allocated 6 minutes of total thinking time.
Each move has a 6-second "free play" period where the time limit is not consumed.
Any time exceeding 6 seconds per move will be deducted from the player's remaining time.
If a player's time runs out, they must forfeit their ability to win in the next round (notified by the referee).
Time Management
A timekeeper will track each player's time.
The "free play" period is defined as the time from when the previous player completes their move (starts pulling back their hand) to when the current player completes their move (starts pulling back their hand).
Example of Time Consumption:
If a move takes 10 seconds: 4 seconds are deducted Remaining time: 5 minutes 56 seconds.
If the next move takes 8 seconds: 2 seconds are deducted Remaining time: 5 minutes 54 seconds.
Players can check their remaining time on the Mahjong Clock displayed in front of them.
Example of Mahjong Clock:
East: 6 minutes remaining
South: 3 minutes 15 seconds remaining
West: 1 minute 30 seconds remaining
North: 8 seconds remaining
Handling Time Exhaustion
If a player's time becomes negative, they can continue playing without time restrictions for the remainder of that round.
In the next round, the player must forfeit their ability to win, and their time is reset to 1 minute.
If the reset 1 minute is used up again, the same rule applies (forfeiting the ability to win in the subsequent round).
The referee will provide instructions at the start of the next round regarding the forfeit.
