I think the lethality of 10th combined with ultra mobility and larger models +shrinking board size makes for bland games. You don’t really have to worry about positioning beyond screening for deep strike, as everyone can get everywhere.

Realistically in my group there is myself and one other who will play 4th with 3rd/4th codexez. And one other who’s always eager to try.

There’s like 10 40k players locally who I’d ask for games at my place, 7 of which only will play the latest sloppa.

Why don’t we? Doing a last hurrah of 10th using the crusade rules for Armageddon. Here’s a battlefleet game played last Friday which ties into that. Or rather the low orbit map beside the table for the planetary assault.

past pic, the battleship descended to low orbit to start blasting the ships, but the assault boats kept hitting hard as fuck keeping it from really doing much(since they too descended to low orbit and hit the ship. I believe at this stage it took 2-3 turns of this, while above in space the cobras worked their way through another escort drone batch- however I decided to board the fucks with some damaged escort drones and somehow we both killed each other- go figure.

What follows is battlebarge opts to remain stationary and try and stop the crippled cruiser, but this allows the second wave of 6 acid drones to lock on and enter low orbit as one directly ontop of it. They light him the fuck up and do 2 damage, the next assault boats kept hitting wave knocks every weapon down and the fire spreads-
Next turn hive ship enters orbit, launches even more boats. I managed to weaken the battlebarge down to crippled and in return Marines all ahead full to clear some space. Repair their damaged shield
Everything zooms behind, marines manage to repair their engines but the fires keep burning, and there are now 6 fires raging in that thing. The battlebarge vengeance for Cath burns out, as it is in the danger side of the gravity well it is drawn into the planet. At this stage my opponent conceded with 2 cobras left.

May I say, tyranids in low orbit are fucking horrifying.
I think perhaps my opponent holding back his 2 big ships was a mistake, I think especially the battleship could have afforded to brawl around the minefield, causing the mines themselves to do further.
Anyway battlefleet rocks, I made the low orbit map from felt to upgrade my old black plain rectangle felt piece. Painted up the nid cruisers for that game too.

My mvp: the 70+ assault boats I launched
His mvp: the cobras for sure- kill tally is 2 crippled cruisers, one squad of escort drones and a kraken or two. Villains.
