That is and has always been nonsense. Marines are not all the same size. There were huge firstborn and armour, by design, needs to be adaptable si the next guy can wear it after the previous owner died. And even if we ignore all that, look at terminators. They didn't need to make a whole separate armour just because they are now bigger.
