They're grindy by design, and your partner Digimon will eventually die, having you start from a baby to grind them back up again, faster than the last time.
They're inherently niche and not for everyone, hence why they do worse and the general dreading that they'll stop getting made in favor of the Story games' more conventional and popular JRPG format.
