Yes it's not a magic trick. The reason Dark Triads manage to use people is becasue their victims choose what they want to see in them, and the individual just helps them along. Behave in a manner that nothing can be held against you, if that doesn't work, be insistent. They want to get rid of you immediately. Make it the easiest by doing what you want them to. I was detained by military police for tresspassing and they couldn't be bothered to take me in due to all the nonsense I was spewing. It worked that time. Think of it as getting back at them. Because they get up every morning feeling like shit due to their life decisions and societal rules allow them to mistreat people because contemporary Reddit morality is "everything is fine, as long as no one is being hurt, in the moment" and they choose to, because it comes more natural to them than developing a conscience or character.
