Not a test, education.
It all goes back to the etymology of the word tormenter.
Most people think torment is to be avoided at all costs.
God obviously disagrees.
That means most people are thinking about it wrong.
Tormentor comes from two words.
Tor meaning hard and strong (as in God)
and
Mentor meaning teacher.
When God is your tormentor, he is teaching you a hard lesson, not testing you (he knows what you can do and can't do)
