Something I realized about all of Sakurai's games
They all take a prolific genre, buck all trends of it, and make it more (elegantly) simplistic to make it easier for newcomers to pick up and play.
KDL is basically a "newcomer's platformer"
Smash is basically a "newcomer's fighting game"
Air Ride is kind of a "newcomer's kart racer"
Meteos is a "beginner-friendly falling block puzzler"
KI:U is a take on third person shooters and on rails shooters.
