The problem with Asa dying, regardless of how one may feel about her character, is that it's completely pointless/repetitive.
If Asa dies and Yoru dies, the plot just ends abruptly.
If Asa dies and Yoru somehow remains alive, nothing changes virtually.
Denji doesn't have such a strong bond to Asa to really feel for her death, not more than what he felt for Aki, Power and Nayuta. Countless people have died in Denji's life, it would just further send him into apathy and put him in Pochita mode forever.
Her death would only really possibly matter to the audience.
On the other hand, Denji dying, especially at Asa's hand would serve as a payoff to the countless warnings that he received over Asa by several people across Part 2, including from Asa herself.
It would push the plot forward since it would likely be or result in Pochita's weaponization.
And it would completely anihilate Asa mentally, especially with this chapter reveal since it would put in the exact same position of her mother in the most traumatizing moment in her life.
Denji's death would matter on al levels, to the characters, to the plot, to the audience.
