Nvidia drivers still crap out on occasion
flatpak repository is filled with outdated shit (your average normie won't ttack thr version number)
some of software (see photoshop, 3D modeling and even some music editors for some reason) don't work or run poorly in wine
distros also have their own eco system, the more obscure yours is the harder it is to find solution to your problem
in short we always on the cusp but still never quite getting there
