It's insane to think that because of this, having shiny Pokémon is a legitimate strategy in PVP if you're stalling because the game has to spend a couple extra seconds to play the shiny animation.
Speaking of, I think Individual Values has got be one of, if not, the worst intended mechanic in the series. A lot of issues and time spent in teambuilding could be solved if they were simply removed and would greatly benefit both PVP and single player. Any time I ever have to deal with them in a game, it's not fun.
