In my first blind playthrough I went to the mausoleum first because I like to dick around and just stopped before entering shadowfell and went and did everything else and then returned. Because when i tried to enter shadowfell a message poped up that warned me that entering shadowfell progresses the story and locks out quests. I managed to recognize the message as such not because it explicitly told you to but because the same message appeared when leaving Act 1.
