>The Conservatives were the ones who passed the law in 2023. That said, Labour could have reversed it but it would have been bad optics.
Labour wholeheartedly supported the Online Safety Bill when it was moving through parliament. In fact, they criticised the Tories for not making the bill even stricter.

One thing Labour proposed when they were in opposition was a total ban on VPNs to stop people from circumventing online safety laws:

>It's a British game and we're still one of the largest video game markets in the world. Our pozzed government will literally collapse before GTA VI is banned here. People (if you can call gamers people) will fucking riot.
Why do you think Keir Starmer would give a single flying fuck about all that?

The political establishment in this country has always hated video games and seen them as "dangerous" because they allow escapism and potentially promote "problematic" ideas. And no party holds this view more strongly than Labour.

This government would gladly destroy the video game industry because they see it as an obstacle in the way of their goal of establishing total draconian control over the thoughts and lives of every British citizen.

Cynically, I'd also point out that the Labour government has many monetary ties with big tech companies like Meta, Google, Netflix etc, all of whom have little-to-no involvement in gaming. If they severely restrict or ban major video games, it means people are forced to spend more time scrolling Facebook or consuming Youtube/Netflix slop for entertainment.
