So last thread there was some good discussion with Silver Eyes and their applicability in these sorts of cross-universe discussions.
1. Silver Eyes are an Anti-Destruction tool/weapon because Grimm are a manifestation of destruction
2. Silver Eyes can turn or encase Grimm to/with stone, blind them or vaporize them
3. Silver Eyes can disrupt the esoteric abilities of Grimm, stopping the emotional/willpower/lifeforce drain on people
If this can be applied against Maka and Soul it will have to be with regards to how Magic exists in Soul Eater.
Magic in Soul Eater arose in response to the vacuum created through the removal of Infernals
Magic is inherently destructive in nature and witches are affected by this on an instinctual level
Demon Weapons are the result of killing witches and somehow using their parts to combine with humans
Death Weapons are Demon Weapons that have consumed the soul of a witch and affords the weapon that witch's magic
Soul Adagio is a direct invocation of Arachne's magical power after the consumption of her soul

In addition to this, Soul has consumed a Witch Soul (Arachne's), so it isn't impossible that Death Battle could set that Soul's abilities after becoming a Death Scythe are magic based.
