The hand stuff is kino symbolism that people are taking at face value and going "wow that would be badass" instead of thinking about what it means

I feel like we might get a reference to the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane with a Flower King Dark World. as in Jesus (or the Jesus figure? Kris? Ralsei? Noelle?) knowing of his impending betrayal, arrest and crucifixion, feeling anguish and sweating blood and praying to God to be freed of the torture but accepting his will anyway.
and of course, the puppet hand holes (for strings) are also like stigmata of hands nailed to the cross (you could also compare the bar holding a marionette's strings to a wooden cross? Strong puppet=>messiah theme)
Maybe the "previous" run of the Prophecy was the "Old Testament," full of violence and death, Dess going missing and Kris, Noelle and Azzy being traumatized, and ending with a Great Flood, but Gaster wants us to make a New Testament and a "new future" with the game.
