the problem is the government has been printing shitloads of money and giving it to their rich friends for 25 years. they even made up a new type of economics called Modern Monetary Theory which says "government debt doesn't matter because you can just print more money" which is the same strategy used by zimbabwe and the weimar republic. what this does is it makes money worth less and less. that's the reason stuff costs more, because they keep printing money and there is too much of it out there. anyway, the other side of this problem is that we don't make stuff here anymore. we gave china our manufacturing jobs which are what made the middle class in this country. so our whole economy is a bunch of managers and investment bankers and people trying to come up with ways to take a business that already exists and put it on your phone as an app. then they say uber is worth billions of dollars, it's not an innovation. it's a cab company. we have had those since cars were invented.
