Unfortunately things will just get worse. The only way for a semi intelligent person to guarantee their job is to get into something that cannot legally be automated like nuclear energy, or begin working in automation, either AI or robotics. I mean if you're a plumber, start training an AI and a robot to do the work because that's where it will be in 10-20 years anyways.
