Yes but it's made the entire system have to wager on AI as a stand in and its having disastrous effects on those that do work in menial white collar roles all while creating a financial bubble of equity that's unsustainable. Accountants and HR weren't traditionally considered losers but they'll be hit in the face with this. The system struggles to survive by eating it's own. NEETs will simply be ahead of the curve though they'll all be marked for orderly extermination. You have to appreciate that sacrifice especially once everything falls apart. Working is only a means of survival, a way to stockpile arms and specie before the system collapses. It would be smart to learn some skills in the meantime but many jobs outside of trades will be outright useless. If AI succeeds it will try to kill humanity itself or be wielded by others to do so. They didn't lose, everyone did and the mildly well to do just haven't realized it yet.
