they could but at that point you're further ahead just sticking with what you have.

problem with that is that if the factory shuts down what do you do with those four rows? you've topped em so they gotta come out. it's more of an issue during full harvest when the temperature will sometimes dip below 32 so you can ONLY top right in front of the lifter or else the beets will freeze.
