Sonic isn't cool anymore.
Shadow is still cool.
Jet is an annoying bastard but still comes off as cool.
They sanded down way too much of Sonic's edge to make him the family friendly mascot and I don't think he resonates with people as much anymore. Movie Sonic isn't really helping either and I feel like its the main inspiration for making him like this.

We don't really get that sort of personality from Sonic anymore, for as shit as Sonic 06 is, the opening cut scene nails what his personality is meant to be perfectly. You don't really see him do shit like that anymore.
