>apply to like 50 jobs
>mix of QA and backend, couple generic "software engineer" thrown in
>been almost a year, same as last year
>finally get a call with HR
>"so, you're sure about QA? Resume says 'technical writer'... what did you actually do day-to-day? More diagrams or testing?"
>"manual testing"
>"so not technical writer, right?"
>fuck
>"right! thanks for pointing that out haha"
>she continues: "what about this year?"
>"uhh... worked general affairs until April"
>"okay, but any QA projects? Your last listed ones are from 2024, plus the bootcamp in 2024, right?"
>"...yeah haha, been practicing with Selenium I guess"
>"there’s more tools out there like Katalon, Cucumber, did the bootcamp cover that? Any projects since then?"
>uhhhhh
>"yeah yeah, I’m still practicing!! gonna make new projects, pinky promise"
>she just smiles
>"understood, we'll follow up with the team soon. hope you’re what we need."
>call ends
>mfw
Realize I basically need at least 2 solid projects in the role I’m applying for.
Resume had numbers/accomplishments but the title "technical writer" completely sabotaged me.
Would’ve kept that mistake until December or even next year if this call didn’t happen.
Now I’m wondering if the other 49 apps are already dead because of it.
