I hate having both perfectionism and instant gratification trait. Im 24 and i have so much chronic pain all over my tendons and joints from lack of physical activity.
Shit makes me constantly planning out excessively each day and writing my thoughts down on Word instead of just doing the things i want to do

I want to make stuff but i want them to be done right here this instant, but i also dont want to actually do the job, but i would hate myself too if a supposed 1 day task gets dragged to 5 days or more.

I blame the world for feeling like i only have 4 hours of free time each day to do whatever i want because i run errands and do chores and exercise as well, turns out im just making excuses.

Ive been like this ever since covid.

I do have work experience and in my country we work from 8 am to 8 pm, having 4 hours of commute, the job itself has lots of tasks outside of the description, tight deadlines, all for minimum wage if you have less than 3 YOE

I even stopped listening to music and video games and it didn’t bring me that much clarity. I dont watch gameplay clips. I dont watch movies and shows like i used to. And i have given up on reading novels.

I envy people who can just do things automatically without having to think so much. They would code for 4 hours, go out with their friends, play games, go to the gym, do volunteer work, and generally happy and loved by their family. They understood concept fast (or maybe they dont but they dont care) and can say themselves "woah, i know how to solve other people's problem and i have money, ill use this money to go out on weekends."

Meanwhile my adhd ass would bounce between the same apps and sites for hours, open my IDE for an hour, then go back to stupid chores.

Being unemployed is poison of the soul. I used to dislike the idea of doing volunteer work but nowadays I'd do anything for a chance to get out of the house so i dont get called lazy useless bum by my parents. I used to think money are used to get PC peripherals, shirts, shoes, books, anime keychains, but now i know money are best spent for experience like going out to the arcade or actually going to a con with your bros. Used to think this was a meme for the longest time but it's not.

My last interview went pretty well, but I think I didn't seem too sure of myself. All their questions were basically one sentence, without any context, which made it quite hard to reply. Looking back, I know what I could've done better. I haven't done an interview in 3 years. The issue I have is that if they ask me a question, or to code something, I know how to do it, but I just shutdown or something. It's like, if someone asks you to translate a word from another language, you know what it means, but you just can't bring it into words. Any advice on how to improve this?

Well I do expand on my answers, but I answer more in a brainstorming way, instead of just directly summing up solutions. I hired people myself, and when people just immediately sum up stuff it makes me think that they just memorized stuff, instead of coming up with solutions on their own. Now I hired locally, and now I'm applying to US jobs so maybe the expectations are completely different. When they ask me something, I give the answer, and sometimes if applicable go off on a tangent on how I recently applied this in an open source contribution or something, which is public and verifiable.

I read a paper once about someone who time-boxed their activities and started committing 30 minutes for each task, then 1 hour, then 90 minutes, 2 hours, 3 hours etc until eventually, over time, they overcame some (but not all) of their severe adhd issues with work. basically forcing yourself to practice by time-boxing your tasks and sticking to it, using a timer with an alarm, trying to push past that time when you practice.

It's also mostly to see averages. So far, the average time from applying to time to response (If there is one) is about 1.5 months with a 0.15 rate of response to no response over the 4 months I have been applying.
It's not perfect though and I still need to work on functions to see causation (Because I am also adjusting data based on resume, job type, locations etc.) but in terms of the averages I like to see it ain't good.

It's probably attempting to figure out how good you are at problem solving and noticing nuance. The most basic bitch answer is probably 60, like you said, because the cube has 6 faces and each face is made up of 10 cubes, so 6 * 10 = 60. I don't think that's correct though, what you're actually counting with the 60 answer is how many small cube faces are painted, but that's not the same as the number of painted cubes. The small cubes in the corners all have 3 sides painted, then all the small cubes on an edge but NOT in a corner have 2 sides painted. By just counting painted sides you're basically counting all these cubes more than once.

i actually managed to solved this problem in one method, then this guy asked me to solve it another method, then a third method. Also no calculators allowed just cuz. I got lost halfway on the second and third, needless to say i didnt get the job.
Anonymous No.106287013
>>106286966
Yeah, 488 is correct. You get 600 in "naive" counting but have 8 corner cubes that are overcounted twice and then 8 more which are overcounted once on each edge. So the answer is 600 - 8 * 2 - 12 * 8 = 488

Lowered the bar, applied for retail jobs, no luck there as well, I hid my education on my resume for retail jobs.
Recently out of nowhere got interview for on site IT Specialist/Admin, passed it flawlessly, got the offer, I'm starting soon, being unemployed really wreaked havoc to my self-esteem, but still I really did want to get a more software related job. Taking care of family. Also if its only a year you can claim training for the job you are applying for. The hard part is putting that on the resume and getting through the filter before the interview. The real issue during the interview is not the fib but the backup where you can say with confidence that you have educational background in whatever you learned. At that point its called fluffing.

After that the CEO can boast that they fired 100+ engineers that were making 6 figures each and hired 10 Foreigners that will lick their boots so they don't get fire and each one will be making half what their previous engineers were making, then the quarter earning shows numbers up, CEO looks good, then when the product starts becoming shit because of the mediocre team the CEO either gets fired or steps down and collects their severance and move to the next company to enshittify

I dropped out of uni, and ever since I am unable to focus in a traditional "class" setting anymore (mostly because I figured out school is bullshit and I can learn on my own, which I prefer). Becoming a NEET is very similar, you will never be able to get a job again or function in society once you get used to that lifestyle.

I recently was recommended to stop applying to anything online and just try to randomly meet people who can get you a job.
I'm starting to think that my time would be better spent buying lottery tickets than applying for work.

It sounds like they're trying to hamper your efforts, keep applying to jobs but do go to tech events.

My guess how you'd handle this is to just program your AI to avoid hurtboxes and do combos at the player but I got no clue. I know someone who's programmed a few fighting games, I really should ask how it works.

They're right. Form real connections with people irl and the jobs will come to you. Former colleagues and employers recently caught wind of my resignation, and I already have multiple jobs lined up. So it feels like I'm just taking a break.

its insane to me people still flock to tech and enroll in cs programs when the market is completely dead
even if they sent literally all the h1bs back tomorrow entry level would still be competitive

Networking is pretty much dead these days too. I think you're "best off" just finding something else to do and figuring out how to live with little to no income.

You're best off learning Mandarin and moving to China. At least some of you guys have tech skills, unlike me, so you'll be okay there. Plus you get to live in a country that isn't trying to commit suicide by importing all the worst people in the world.

Yes, AI is killing jobs:
https://archive.is/wftHu
>At Amazon, which has eliminated 27,000 jobs since 2022, chief executive Andy Jassy has been not been shy about predicting further cuts, and Salesforce’s Marc Benioff has boasted that AI is already doing 30 to 50 per cent of the company’s workload.

You never know, if a pajeet survives there with how little work he does and he's paid so much, would you refuse having the same conditions?
Anonymous No.106303897

Of course not, but the reason I would never get that job is because I'm not a jeet, and the middle managers that do hiring love sycophants. Assuming that the company isn't already skinsuited by a Jeet CEO.

I hate that there's no jobs, except for maybe ICE, and then my job security (and possibly life security) is determined solely by who's in office.
