Tanjiro's charm is that for the whole 2nd half of the story, he's that guy in your Dungeons & Dragons group whose character is underleveled, and he's not even an outstanding roleplayer capable of making up for it by exploiting the rules, and his dice rolls aren't even that high on average, so he puts himself in an assisting role in every big fight and never complains, just keeps hitting an attack here and there to weaken the enemy, compliments everyone, offers help at every opportunity to make other players shine, and then at the end of the battle, pretty much everyone at the table does not mind when the DM batantly rewards him by putting his character in a "coincidentally" perfect position for him to hit the finishing blow when he rolls a 14.
