Rengoku never matches Akaza in the fight while Giyuu forces Akaza to match him
Giyuu would still have lost without Tanjirou but his performance was obviously on another tier compared to Rengoku
Love the guy but he died before he could get any of the major powerups or even master his own form to its peak like Sanemi and Gyomei did. And that's part of what makes him so likable

I can't wait to see peoples reaction to the movie. Ufo greatly emphasized the gap between Tanjiro and Giyu/Akaza. I wonder if it was intentional for the trailers to prop up Tanjiro and make it look like he's gonna have a competetive fight against Akaza.

Meh, different scenarios.

Rengoku didn’t awakened the mark since he could not take part to the training , so his raw power was not matchable with marked Tomioka.
Beside, the different fighting style play a huge role in this:
Rengoku was stronger than unmarked Tomioka and his style was more offensive based, so while stronger he got hard countered by Akaza ‘s anti-swordman style.
Tomioka instead is a defence/parry specialist, and so he was a better match for Akaza since he style allowed him to tank and deflect most of his letal barrage and stand in fight without 90% of his techniques being useless

Why did Tanjiro feel so much weaker and more wheezy in the anime compared to the manga, even though the story and events were supposed to be exactly the same?

When Tanjiro passed out near the end, or when his grip strength gave out and his sword slipped, I couldn’t help but think: "Hey, compared to Giyu you’ve literally done nothing up to this point. You’ve just swung your sword maybe ten times. Why are you so exhausted?"
I never once felt that way reading the manga.

Same. I refuse to watch that telenovela anime. It's unironically even more repetitive and formulaic than Dragon Ball.
>strong demon shows up
>fight strong demon
>flashback to explain demon/hashira's misery porn story before they die and get written out of the story
>some minimal character development for emotional beat
>cry a little while
>move on to the next demon
I knew EXACTLY how UM3, UM2 and UM1 would go out. And they all went out in the lamest way possible. It's just Saint Seiya for the ADHD generation (and fat ugly women).

Funnily, the same faggots who cry at Dragon Ball for being repeptitve actually has A LOT more going to it like treasure hunting, space travels, cat-mouse chase, time travel plots and can make fun of itself. Demon Slayer has so little story variety that I actually when the anime is our of the equation, it'll age like milk just like Saint Seiya where Toei failed many times to revive it to the modern audiences.

Honestly, feels like the last episode might be TV exclusive to justify the inevitable "split-the-movies-into-episodes" milking in 2030.

>AIIIIEEEE SAVE ME MODS
I'll post again, bitch. You can cry to the janny all you want, Dragon Ball is STILL the uncontested per capita king and NOT your shitty drawn manga made for fat ugly middle-aged women and homosexuals.
>Dragon Ball was said to have made up of 85% of Jump's sales in the Golden Age in 2002
>Dragon Ball was said to have made a revenue of $30 billion dollars in 2004, its current value could be around $45 (lowball) or $50 billion (highball) right now
>Oricon confirms that the Dragon Ball manga has sold 350M in 2008
>17 years has passed and that means Dragon Ball's sales has only gone up since theb, it should be around 450-475M right now
>Divide 450M (lowball) or 475M (highball) with 42 and you get an average sales per volume of 10.71M (lowball) or 11.30M (highball)
>Dragon Ball has the highest per volume sales in manga history but Shueisha hates Dragon Ball and wants to sabotage it because it's TOO big
The KING of manga. Always compared, always imitated, but never surpassed. Not even by that shitty manga drawn by a woman (and if not a woman either a tranny or a faggot pick your poison).

More receipts to come of Shueisha sabotaging it and shilling new gen slop like Demon Slayer among others.

Before their announcement of 260M worldwide, Shueisha had never mentioned Dragon Ball’s global sales. Muzan tentacle flailing is like Akaza's normal punching and kicking. It looks less aesthetic and less interesting for people who LIKE to watch anime fights for its own sake, but it looks more threatening and dangerous for casual viewers. His special techniques, just like Akaza's, look much more varied.
The Muzan fight has a lot of potential because it's the least interesting one, visually, for seasoned manga readers, but it's also the one who looks like the heroes are fighting a videogame boss the most if properly handled.

It turned Rengoku into a symbol of tear-jerking emotional porn.
In the manga, Rengoku’s death was more understated, carrying a subtle air of sadness while still letting his presence feel dignified and unyielding, even in the face of death.
He never once appeared weakened, only heroic.
The anime, on the other hand, made his final words and the background music feel like they were shouting, "Look, I’m about to die, so get your handkerchiefs ready!" It was a little overdone.

BUT, here's the kicker: Dragon Ball was already confirmed at 350M+ copies in 2008. That's six years earlier than One Piece's 320M. But Dragon Ball was not even mentioned in Guinness, even though it had already crushed that number.

The record is only for 'same comic book series by a single author", meaning Dragon Ball qualified 100% (Toriyama is the sole author of the original 42 volumes). So why wasn't Dragon Ball ever submitted or entered into the record?

That's just Denmark. One country. Now imagine what that means across Europe, LATAM, SEA, etc l and it’s consistent with the 140 million overseas sales already confirmed in 2005 by multiple other sources.
Translation 3: "Worldwide, Dragon Ball has already sold more than 300 million copies." BOOM. Here's the real nuke. In 2005, this article cites Dragon Ball's global sales as over 300 million copies once again confirming the "260M" stat was already outdated (you read that you piece of shit Black Clover cuck?) Shueisha has never publicly acknowledged the true sales figures since last then. Dragon Ball was crushing global markets before the internet was even commonplace.

Honestly, he feels like Broly if he was a canon character of the original Dragon Ball manga. A great part of Broly's popularity that set him apart from all other filler villains is how intuitive the idea behind him felt, like it would easily fit into the main story. Koku is like that. The idea of him feels like a fanfic, but it also makes you think "of course there's a character like that in this type of story".

And finally... Exhibition #13: Wikipedia (Ongoing)

Source: Wikipedia's article for Dragon Ball
Claim: "The total number of tankōbon volumes sold have reached 350 million copies worldwide, not including unofficial pirated copies. When including pirated copies, an estimated total of more than 400 million official and unofficial copies have been sold worldwide."
Significance: Wikipedia's citations come from multiple Japanese and international reliable publications, including Oricon, Nikkei, and Fuji TV. This section remains undisputed and consistently maintained, further solidifying the claim in front of millions of global readers.
Impact: This directly destroys the myth that Dragon Ball's official sales are "unconfirmed." Even Wikipedia, which often plays it safe by avoiding fan speculation, openly cites the 350M+ figure and even acknowledges pirate copies pushing it past 400M.
Bonus killshot: Dragon Ball is not just 350M. The sentence adds that pirated + unofficial versions push the number past 400 million, which could realistically be between 450-600M when you factor in global bootlegs, unlicensed reprints, and digital fan scans that existed long before Jump even pushed digital platforms.

And with that said, here comes the math, because facts don't care about PR campaigns and they sure don't care about fanboy feelings.
>Dragon Ball
Volumes: 42
Confirmed sales (2008-2013): 350M
Projected (2025): 450-490M
>Per volume average
Low estimate (450M ÷ 42): 10.71M
High estimate (490M ÷ 42): 11.66M
And even if we stay with the old confirmed figure then 350M ÷ 42 = 8.33M per volume (already monstrous)
>Demon Slayer
Volumes: 23
Sales (2025): 220 million
>Per volume average:
220M ÷ 23 = 9.56M

Meaning... Dragon Ball has the highest per volume sales average of any manga in history. Period. Even at its 2008-confirmed figure of 350M, it already competes head-to-head with Demon Slayer's average.

But after watching the movie, it feels like a basketball match where Tanjiro scored 10 points and hit the game-winning shot at the end and got a lot of credit... while Tomioka gets the most interviews after the game because he had scored 43 points and 10 assists up to that point.

Tanjiro was like a striker who got completely shut down by the opposing team’s DF (Akaza) for 90 minutes and just walked around the goal until stoppage time.
In the last minute he scored a super golazo that led his team to victory, but without that, his rating would’ve been terrible and he would’ve been trashed by supporters after the match.
Giyu, on the other hand, was like a winger who single-handedly carried the ball up to the goal line countless times, created endless chances, and even fought hard on defense, basically keeping the game alive all by himself.

>Asahi Shimbun (2005)
These are legitimate Japanese publications and primary sources not fan blogs, not rumors. So cry harder, you Spic. Dragon Ball is the highest selling manga per volume in history.
>pirated copies that you have no way to track
Wrong again, Spic. The Asahi Shimbun, a major Japanese newspaper, specifically estimated 100 million pirated copies in China by 2005.
That's not "a guess", that's a researched journalistic figure, published in a major outlet and cited in Wikipedia. Same with South Korea (30 million). See picrel and cry, the exact publication date and page number from Asahi’s Osaka edition:
>朝日新聞(大阪版)2005年12月6日付朝刊 8面
No speculations here. That's data.
>You won't find a single source that tells you DB has officially sold 400 million
Partially true, but misleading. It's true that no source says "Dragon Ball has sold exactly 400M officially." But that's because Shueisha stopped reporting the real number after pushing 350M+ between 2008 and 2013, which is exactly my point. That doesn't mean the number is false, it means it's undercounted due to corporate opacity, and not refuted by any factual counter-source. Meanwhile, I provided clear evidence:
>Multiple media outlets confirm 350M by 2008-2013
>Sales continued post-2013 (Super, reprints, kanzenban, box sets, etc)
>Pirated + unofficial editions add another 130M+ (as sourced)
That reasonably puts Dragon Ball at 470M-500M+ globally, as Wikipedia itself says and they've actually reviewed the same sources.

>I-If you can’t show me an official tweet from Shueisha dated today that says 450M exactly, I win!!
That's not how journalism, economics, or publishing works. Sales data:
>Lags behind
>Often underreported
>Becomes politicized when competing IPs are involved
That's why we use aggregate evidence and legacy citations, like I just did and (You) HATE that. One Piece gets updated, Dragon Ball got buried because if Shueisha actually updated Dragon Ball's numbers, it would break the illusion that One Piece is the GOAT and make it look worse because the One Piece only sold 5.11M per volume while Dragon Ball is around 11M if not 12M already. People prefer a manga that ended 30 years ago over an ongoing manga. Same with Demon Slayer, even with all the cheat codes in the world, people prefer a manga that ended three decades ago over newer slop. If a best-selling evergreen IP like Dragon Ball sold 350M by 2008, it likely added at least 100-150M more in the following 17 years, just from catalog sales, international expansion, and reprints alone. Muzan is not a proper fighter, he is just a really really buff dude that can tank shit and “developed” some unconventional moves to brute force his way in against specific kind of enemies… basically Oliva Biscuit from Baki kind of fighter.

His whole fighting style resolves around being immortal and hard countering any kind of swordmanship via tentacles, AoE strikes and attack spam. A whole kit of unfair and unfun techniques rather than a proper specialization like the other demons.

Fits how deep into his own ass the guy is since he never bothered exploring his powers more than the bare minimum form but at its Max capability , and also how the guy is a coward relaying on a cheap anti-meta style to fight

>Your words, on kimetsu's 200 million circulation last month before it was confirmed
That's a normal, fair approach. Why? Because Demon Slayer had tons of unverified hype numbers floating around, so I wanted to wait until Shueisha or Oricon gave a confirmed figure. Now that it's officially confirmed (220M), I acknowledge it. That's called: being responsible with numbers.

Your whole argument is self-defeating by trying this false equivalence. You say:
>No confirmation = didn't happen! Your logic, so Dragon Ball didn’t sell past 350M!
And here's where you trip over your own argument.
>Dragon Ball has confirmations
I showed multiple legitimate, dated sources
>Oricon (2008)
>Shueisha promo campaigns (2009, 2013)
>Mainstream news outlets (MSN, Livedoor, Sankei, Nikkei, etc)
>TV broadcast on Fuji TV
>Government and educational articles
So I'm not speculating. I'm building on confirmed data. Also, your "no confirmation = didn't happen" logic hurts your favorite series even more, and you don't even realize it lmfao.

Before 2025, Demon Slayer's 200M+ number had zero primary source verification. Not from Shueisha, not from Oricon, not from any reliable business outlet. So if you want to weaponize "no confirmation = didn't happen", then:
>Demon Slayer didn't sell 200M until now
>And Dragon Ball absolutely did sell 350M, confirmed in multiple sources years ago
You're attacking my past caution as if it's a weakness, when in fact, it's my strength. If you genuinely think 350M in 2008 somehow means Dragon Ball never sold another copy in the 17 years since, you're just coping.

Nope, and this is a textbook bad-faith argument. I say:
>I only accept officially confirmed sales figures. DB has multiple confirmations of 350M from 2008-2013, and it's reasonable to believe it's much higher now but I still use 350M as the last officially confirmed number.
This is rational and evidence-based. I'm not making up numbers, I'm projecting conservatively and I treat all series by the same standard, including Demon Slayer (I waited for confirmation).

You're cherry-picking and desperately attempting to "gotcha" me. You now say:
>If only 350M is confirmed, then that's it! It hasn't passed Kimetsu officially!
"Confirmed" =/= "Frozen"
If the last confirmed number for DB was 350M in 2008, that doesn't mean:
>"DB stopped selling in 2008."
No. That's like saying:
>"Michael Jackson only sold 750M records in 2009, so he hasn’t sold any since!"
Sales don't freeze because an update wasn't printed. This kind of logic only works if you're deliberately ignoring 17 years of reality. Second, multiple official sources =/= "delusion" (or whatever Kimetsutard cope). I presented:
>Oricon
>Sankei Shimbun
>Livedoor
>Nikkei
>Weekly Playboy (Shueisha)
>Fuji TV
>TAF announcements
>Dragon Ball Evolution campaigns
>Nikkan Sports
>DBZ game guides
>Wikipedia (with reliable citations)
>Asahi Shimbun (on 100M pirated copies in China)
That's an avalanche of evidence. Meanwhile, all you have is:
>W-Well it wasn’t updated recently so it’s invalid now!!
Cope. And if you truly believed your own logic (you don't), then OP didn't pass DB either because the last "official" One Piece stat was from 2021 (516M). DB's last confirmed stat is from 2013 (350M). Only one has been updated recently. So by your own standard if it's not updated, it doesn't count. Then no one has passed anyone, and the argument is pointless. But you'll never apply that logic to Kimetsu. Only DB. Which means, YOU'RE the hypocrite. Cope, seethe and dilate, nigger. Even when the older models sold the most, they would kill off or undermarket them to push their new ones, because the old model makes the new one look worse.Just like how Dragon Ball makes every single slop manga Jump pumps out look worse. Facts don't care about your feelings, right? Then stop ignoring the ones that bury your favorite.

Nice backpedal, faggot. You agreed that Dragon Ball sold 350M. You have it in your writing:
>Hey, I agree with your 350 million…
That's what Oricon, Nikkei, Fuji TV, Shueisha promos, and other sources all confirmed between 2005 and 2013. Now you're basically saying DB is 260M, with 6.2M per volume. This is complete nonsense and directly contradicts what (You) just admitted. 260M ÷ 42 volumes = 6.19M per volume. That is Shueisha’s old internal figure from 2002, not current, not accurate, and not what any of the 2008-2013 confirmations said. You're reverting to an outdated stat from 23 years ago while ignoring all the later official confirmations that you already agreed to. That's not even a argument, it's an emotional regression.

Dragon Ball has the highest sales per volume in history and it will NEVER be surpassed.

No, nigger. I'm not repeating myself to make it true, I'm repeating DOCUMENTED history because you keep pretending it never existed because it debunks the myth that Demon Slayer is the highest selling manga per volume, which is not true by the way. Dragon Ball is, and Wikipedia even says Dragon Ball is well past 450M+. Should be around 475M-495M right now since 17 years has passed since it hit 350M. And going by the math...
>475M ÷ 42 = 11.30M (lowball)
>495 ÷ 42 = 11.66M (highball)
And if we count EVERY unofficial pirated copies sold, that puts Dragon Ball EASILY around 600M+ like Wikipedia cited. So...
>600M ÷ 42 = 14.28M
Your shitty drawn manga (carried by the anime) is nothing more but a blip and as history has proven time and again, slop comes and goes. Dragon Ball is eternal. Wrong, Kimetsufaggot. That 260M number is not a new 2021 figure. It's a reused, recycled stat from 2002 that Dragon Ball has LONG since passed. Shueisha never officially retracted the 350M confirmations from 2008-2013.
They just stopped talking about them while continuing to hype up One Piece and shill newer IPs like Demon Slayer. That's not clarification, that's deliberate omission.

300M
That’s seven years of officially reported numbers between 300M-350M. Every single one of them came AFTER 260M was first stated in 2002. If 260M was the real number, then why did they publish 350M repeatedly from 2005 to 2013? Because the 260M stat is ancient, outdated, and was left behind by the actual industry, just not by your fragile ego.

And even IF 260M were "reconfirmed" in 2021 that doesn’t invalidate previous reports. If a franchise sells 350M by 2013 then someone randomly printing 260M in a 2021 sidebar with no citation is not a correction. That's just lazy internal recycling of a decade-old ass number to fill a page. If anything, that’s proof that Shueisha:
>Stopped tracking DB sales seriously
>Shifted marketing focus to newer IPs
>Didn't want to show that DB was outpacing their newer stars in per-volume stats
And you're eating that narrative up like it's gospel because it comforts you.

Just because someone reused the outdated number in a random 2021 blurb doesn't make it "new", it just means they stopped caring about updating DB while boosting newer IPs. I didn’t mean that Rengoku would’ve won 1vs1, he clearly wouldn’t since the rank 3 and above are far beyond what a marked pillar can do normally.
What i’m saying is that Rengoku if marked would rank among the top 4 of the pillars. The reason Tomioka survived better against Akaza is because of his defensive fighting style. Rengoku’s style was too offensive based, which is something akaza’s compass hard counters. Meanwhile Tomioka is a defense/parry specialist, and his 11th kata is able to specifically deflect and absorb most of akaza’s deadliest attack.
The whole manga since the end of Natagumo’s mountain is very matchup based, since the specialization of the pillars and demons matters a lot (like shinobu poisoning Douma, Tengen being poison resistant to gyutaro, koku speedblitzing a glass cannon like Muochirou etc…)

Nice fake burden of proof fallacy, faggot. No one, not even Oricon, can give exact unit sales of anything worldwide unless publishers release the data. By your own logic, Demon Slayer didn't sell anything either until Shueisha confirmed 200M which didn’t happen until 2025. So let's throw your own weak-ass logic back at you. By your standard, Kimetsu hadn't sold a single copy until 2025. Before that? No "hard data." Just your feelings. You'll try to dodge that, but it's checkmate. You're applying one standard to DB, and another to Demon Slayer. That's textbook hypocrisy.

Unlikely. NFL season starts the same week and it's actually a detriment, since this movie drops Sep 12 (Friday) and Saturday Night Football comes to play, so does Sunday Night Football. That's where casual audiences puts their focus on, cutting potential revenue in its OW. The Conjuring also drops one week earlier and box office analysts says it'll have the biggest OW of September, and has the benefit of both being a finale and having a shorter runtime. If that has good WOM, it will cannibalize screens immediately.

Japan are notorious for having long theatrical runs and allowing a 2h35m movie on screens, but America aren't as lenient as Japan because they have more theaters and that means way more competition for showtimes. Everyone wants a spot and this movie isn't getting the red carpet treatment. It's not Japan, where every screen bends over backwards for Ufotable. In the US, movies typically stay in theaters for 2-4 weeks on average unless you're Top Gun, Avatar, or Taylor Swift. And American theaters hates long movies.

Learn what bad faith arguments mean, nigger. The box office numbers even show that Japan carries this movie by a landslide. Taiwan isn't even close to touch Japan's $177M (should be around $180M now), and they're the second biggest audience for Demon Slayer in East Asia.
>>281563911
Not really. The 2h35m runtime will absolutely be a detriment. It requires 3 hours per showing including trailers, ads, and cleanup. That means it cuts 1-2 showings per day versus shorter titles that'll eat into its daily revenue potential, especially on weekdays. Japan can pull it off, because they have fewer screens so they'll give their own movies a chance to breath. In America, everyone is on schedule and everyone wants a spot.

This is why long films only work if they draw massive, repeated audiences. James Cameron and Christopher Nolan get guaranteed screen time because they're appointment filmmakers with proven rewatch records and legacies. Can Infinity Castle Part 1 draw beyond its core fanbase?

How to tell you're not American or have never been to the US. The NFL is the biggest media force in America. It's not "just sports," it’s the single most-watched entertainment product EVERY WEEK.
>Sunday Night Football averages 17-22 million viewers per game
>Monday Night Football, same story
>College Football Saturdays? Another 8-10 million per game.
You really think a 2.5-hour Japanese anime movie in Japanese (with subs or dub) is going to drag people to theaters over their hometown team or prime-time matchups? In September when fans are hyped and tuned in again after the offseason? Are you really an ESL? And that's before factoring in:
>School's back in session
>College students move back mid-August
>Theaters giving limited showings because of the 2h35m runtime
>More movies opening each week
This isn't Japan where people treat Tanjiro like a national hero. This is America, where movies live or die by screen availability and weekend momentum, both of which get wrecked once the NFL kicks off.

Anyway, you're talking about Japan, I'm talking about America. Stop being a dumbass and assume Americans are like the Japanese.

Pissfags still cry over never having a single good game. Lol.

At the end of the day, anime IPs will never get good games, much less, good fighting games because they don't have to make good games, because they have a built-in fanbase so devs don't have to give players an incentive to buy their games which is why you only get stuck with Naruto Storm clones.

Dragon Ball is the rare exception. It actually gets good games because Dragon Ball has a long history with video games. Yu-Gi-Oh too.

Honestly, this game series is an insult to KnY.
I can’t understand how a game like this is being accepted.
The idea of Tanjiro slashing at Nezuko, Inosuke, or Zenitsu with a sword is something that anyone who’s read the original story would know is utterly impossible.
KnY simply doesn’t suit a fighting game at all.
It’s completely different from Naruto fighting Kakashi or Sakura, or Goku brawling with Gohan because there were actually that kind of scenes in manga (as part of training).
CC2 did a good job with Naruto, but their JoJo game was terrible, and with KnY, they clearly don’t understand the essence at all.
If a KnY game were to be made, it should have been a co-op action game like Monster Hunter or God Eater, where multiple players team up to fight demons.
That would capture the original story far better.
Or alternatively, they could have made it a Souls-like game in the style of Sekiro. Upper Moon demons are basically like an Elden Ring boss, so that could have worked brilliantly too.

I don't have to "think" DB sold 450M+, Wikipedia does all the work for me, lmfao. Wikipedia doesn’t just toss in whatever some rando says on Twitter. To make it through Wikipedia's editorial gauntlet, your claim has to be:
>Cited
>Non-speculative
>Sourced from mainstream media, government documents, or official publishers
>NOT fan blogs, YouTube claims, or "I feel like it"
And what does the Dragon Ball Wikipedia page say right now, cited by credible sources, you turd?
>"The total number of tankōbon volumes sold have reached 350 million copies worldwide, not including unofficial pirated copies. When including pirated copies, an estimated total of more than 400 million official and unofficial copies have been sold worldwide."
Confirmws by Wikipedia, sourced from Fuji TV, Nikkei, Oricon, Asahi Shimbun, and many more.

In other words...
>Wikipedia confirms the 350M as baseline official sales
>Then it explicitly adds that pirated + unofficial copies push it to 400M+
These figures are not speculative — they’re backed by:
>Nikkei (2005)
>Asahi (2005), 100M pirated in China
>Fuji TV (2013), 350M global
>Livedoor, Sankei, Oricon all repeating the 350M figure
>Shueisha Weekly Playboy confirmed 350M themselves
>Which also means... Dragon Ball is the highest selling manga per volume in history and not Kimetsu no Yaiba
If Wikipedia, the most cautious citation gatekeeper on Earth, accepted ALL of that argument then your argument is instantly nullified. Get fucked, lol.

The first Hand Demon could serve as a kind of tutorial boss like the Asylum Demon, and there are about eight named demons below the Lower Moons from Season 1.
Then you add in the six Lower Moons, six Upper Moons, plus Nakime, Kaigaku, and finally Muzan as the last boss, and that brings the total to 23 bosses.
If you separate Daki and Gyutaro, or Hantengu and Zohakuten, you can pad the count even further.

Even then it might still feel a little on the short side, but that’s just the nature of anime games.
It would still be enough to work perfectly well as Kimetsu Souls.

Yep, I used Wikipedia. You did too. And guess what? But the actual Dragon Ball franchise Wikipedia article, fully sourced and independently reviewed, says this:
>"The total number of tankōbon volumes sold have reached 350 million copies worldwide… when including pirated copies, over 400 million."
That's on Wikipedia right now. You can't cherry-pick Wikipedia when both articles are live and contradict each other.

They unlocked the marks and the knowledge of it, similar to the red blades.
Another thing is compatibility, water breathing is considered more of an Allrounder, with Giyu taking it more into a defensive direction with his creation of his eleventh form.
Flame breathing is a more offense form and less well rounded as it focuses more on overpowering the enemy.
This is obviously bad against the upper moon as they are far more tank and might have a trick or two up their sleeve that prevents them from dying after being beheaded.

No matter how popular Kokushibo is, that popularity only really exists within hardcore otaku circles.
In the next movie, Tanjiro, Giyu, Zenitsu, and Shinobu either won’t appear at all or will only have very limited screen time.
The main characters will be Inosuke, Kanao, Muichiro, Sanemi, Gyomei, and Genya, a pretty underwhelming lineup, to be honest.
On top of that, the most popular among them, Muichiro, ends up going through some truly horrible stuff, which is going to completely alienate the casual fangirl crowd and drag them down into despair.

It's the best fight because it's the only fight that plays into the central conceit of the manga's focus on sword clashes as being the pinnacle of cool. All other demon fights, every single one of them, is about dodging magic and overcoming rapid regen and super toughness. Meanwhile Koku, alone amongst the entire demon cast, fights like a human refusing to be hit, never relying on his durability or regen, as if it were a Hashira training battle except amped up to life-or-death stakes. It's the kind of battle the mangaka likes the best and so the most effort was put into it. I believe he was originally supposed to be defeated by Tanjiro and bodies everyone else, representing the apex of Tanjiro's growth and preparing him for Muzan. In "reality" every single one of the characters who faced him should have been killed, Genya's goofy blood arts was just an asspull to let them win. Kind of ironic that the one demon who fought most like a human got defeated by a human's demon magic.

Wrong, since every character there can be representative of Kokushibou's relationship and fight between him and Youiichi. I call it "the Naruto route": kill all the Upper Moons one by one in their own arcs like what happened with the Akatsuki, then at the end, Muzan and Kokushibo wait for the slayers at the top of a mountain while posing menancingly.

I think the finale would have been far less memorable if Wani went that route.

A big all-out clash where every main character concludes their personal arcs just feels more satisfying. I enjoyed it a lot.

I actually like that about it.
In defiance of the usual shōnen manga rules, Tanjiro never awakened into a permanent “god mode” by the end, he stayed stuck at a kind of halfway strength.
He did gain the ability to tap into god mode power for just a few seconds, but his level was so low that using it instantly drained his entire stamina bar.
That’s exactly why his companions stand out so much.
In that final battle, Tanjiro was only one among the group who did important work; he wasn’t the chosen one who single-handedly brought down the great evil.

The way this should have progressed is that each Lower Moon has an arc, or 2-3 per arc for the climax, just like Rui's mountain and Mugen Train, a few more arcs dedicated for LMs should have been there. During the LM arcs start introducing the Upper Moons, like how Akaza was introduced in Mugen Train. For example, have Douma show up at Rui's place to throw the Slayers into absolute despair, showing how vastly outmatched they actually are and how far they are from their goal. Douma plays around with them for a bit, but retreats out of respect for letting Rui have the honor of taking the kills. Have Gyokko and Hantengu show up in other arcs in similar roles. Maybe introduce Koku in the Red Light district -- not to fight, maybe he just came over because he heard that his descendant might be there, but his presence alone is so menacing, so monstrous that the kids can only stand there and stare, even Daki shows fear of him, as if UM6 herself is no different than any other human in the face of a natural disaster. That's how you do hype and aura.

He was literally being jacked up with plot armor asspulls in the Muzan fight. He needed asspulls because he hadn't been developed enough to be in that battle naturally. He should have been turned into meat chunks the moment Muzan started attacking, full stop. It would be like putting Gon in Chimera Ants arc without having gone through 2/3rds of the arcs before that point.

Guinness was for a single comic series by one author. Dragon Ball is one self-contained manga of 42 volumes and 519 chapters, 100% written and drawn by Akira Toriyama. It has no co-author, no ghostwriter, no assistant credited as author. DB qualified 100%, it had more sales than One Piece at the time.

It simply was never submitted, probably due to politics or internal decisions by Shueisha, who shifted PR focus onto One Piece by the 2010s. It's always been an open secret that Shueisha is a mafia and Oda is the ring leader. Lol.

I actually like that KnY does not go for the whole "this was just a greeting" bullshit that most action shonen use frequently. It just feels so farcical. Yes, some longevity was sacrificed by the fact that every encounter between Moons and Pillars result in one of the sides dying, but it also makes everything feel more urgent.

Honestly, the red blade was unnecessary. The cursed mark was definitely needed, but the red blade was nothing more than flavor, it served no real purpose in the story.
All it did was make Muzan go, "Hmm, getting cut by this red blade stings a little," and in the end it just ruined the pacing and felt like a nuisance.
If I were the editor, I would have strongly opposed the idea of the red blade.

He lost an eye 3 seconds into the fight and died 2 minutes into the fight. The rest was MC-being-MC business as usual, but I appreciate how little he accomplished on his own despite all the buffing. His one-on-one against Muzan just exists for Ufotable to slap Gurenge playing over it when they animate a 2-minute fanservice sequence, and after that Muzan discovers he is slowing down because of the poison, and STILL almost turns Tanjiro into red mist before a blind Obanai shows up and instantly takes the leading role because the characters are so japanese that the senpai gotta lead the way even if he's literally blind.

>Tanjiro and Muzan's first and only conversation while completely alone
>Muzan admiting his loss to Kagaya and reinforcing the story's main theme
>Nezuko and Tanjiro "defeating" Muzan as a callback to Tanjiro's declaration in the first Pillar Meeting
>Shinobu accomplishing Kanae's dream of forging a bond with a demon (Tamayo)
>payoff for the "if I ever become a demon" scene during the Gyuutaro/Daki fight
>Inosuke's final piece of development when the fightfag facade finally crumbles
>giving Nezuko a big emotional scene at the end that works as a callback to the 1st episode, since involving her into the fight itself would be an automatic gameover.

Akaza plays down to the competition.
He got angry at Tanjiro for 10 seconds, then started enjoying himself again. When he grabbed Tanjiro's sword, he clearly treated as a fun little game of trying to break it as Tanjiro struggled, instead of turning Tanjiro into into swiss cheese with the same flurry of kicks he used on Giyuu a few minutes earlier.

Maybe, but I think that goes into the list of "things that become very easy when the opponent is already slowing down".
Every UM plays around a lot, but I'd guess they are fighting at 40% most of the time, not literally going at 10% while thinking "I could end this fight immediately at any time I wanted".
Also, if a Pillar can't match a demon's pace and speed in the early rounds, when their stamina is at its best, their base stats would be so far apart that the demon would kill them by accident, even while trying not to. But a bloodlusted Douma who was pissed at Kanao got countered even while throwing an attack full of killing intent, so even if Douma was lazily throwing a slipper at a cockroach, he was still trying to kill it.
Sometimes readers act like the UMs could kill Pillars with a fart and just refuse to do so, but Muzan would explode their heads if that was the case.
