These weakminded attention whore types often struggle to accept that no one gives a fuck about them five minutes after they retire. Hell, we all started forgetting Beckham existed while he was still in the league. So they try to place themsevles back in the conversation but that begs the question of what to discuss.
He can't talk about all the records that he set because he didn't. He can't talk about how he was the best WR in football for even a single second because he was never a first team all-pro. He can't talk about the super bowl without acknowledging that he was 3rd fiddle to a white boy. He can't talk about his HOF chances because his chances are zero. He was pretty good for like two years then was just a guy.
So what do you do if you were a diva with delusions of grandeur but a fairly mid career no one is going to remember? You look at younger players who are better than you ever were are credit yourself for how they play because you "changed the game." Because apparently you invented....what? Gloves? Throwing teammates under the bus? Being the 30th best player on a title team? It's honestly pathetic but most players with NPD are after they retire
