If I lived in 40k I would be a Crusader with the cool armor and shield and I would be the bodyguard for an Ordo Hereticus inquisitor. I would help her with her investigations and she would be impressed by my loyalty and strength and we would fall in love. We would have a long and happy career killing heretics together until one day we both die valiantly destroying a den of bad guys and I heroically sacrifice myself to finish the mission and we both die in a big explosion and the last thing we do is hold hands. Because while love can bloom, it still has to have a tragic ending at least.

A high fantasy crpg with a cast of wacky squad mates and all the branching paths in the story should be right up my alley, but owlcat's boring encounter design and mistaking difficulty as stat inflation make me not enjoy the game. I still beat it twice to experience two different mythic paths but I found myself dreading playing more of this gameplay style so I'm not going to play a third time despite being curious about some of the other mythic paths.
Rogue Trader massively improved on both fronts. Encounters consider things like cover and elevation, and tactical turn based is so much more fun than buffing up so you can right click attack the balor who has inflated 45 AC.
I'm so proud of them improving with every game. They're doing exactly what a developer should do, learning with each installment. This isn't to say their previous games are bad, they've never made a bad game, but getting better each time makes me really hopeful and excited for the future.
>owlcat working on multiple projects that all look good
>larian working on multiple projects that all sound good based on info we have
>several good indie games slated for this/next year including Solasta2, Clockwork Revolution, New Arc Line, and many others
We're eating good crpgbros.
