honestly it says a lot that a lot of stories of the characters coping after the fact have ceroba finally realizing that clover was a mirror to kanako , and that martlet failed to protect a child. it shows a lot that despite how much people love the story, that ending gets re-written so aggressively.
I also think that the kind of justice that martlet seems to believe in with how she gives clover so many chances that she would be second in line to absolutely refuse clovers suicide. I get the impression with how she tried to see the good in people despite what chujin told her that she wouldn't accept a "justice" that didn't also mean justice for clover. At the very least shades of justice has them stay at his side
