The squadron F-5E-FCU is better than the tech tree F-5T-SCU.
The Phantom can be good if you know how to use a missle truck but overall the F-5E is just broken right now, i'd only use that for the grind.

It's an event vehicle. You can grind event with it. Getting 9k mission score in GAB is hella easy, so it's actually some handheld a little more obscure way to clear events. That's why shit like the russian BA-11 is at that price
