The next one though is suffering from my experience, at 7.7 even the slightest uptier means facing tanks that are superior to you in every single way, not to mention autocannons.

crusader II - still pretty good but 2-pounder starts to fall off
crusader III - very good, 6-pounder is as good as it gets for rank II brits
cromwell V - cromwell is very very fast, but the gun, or rather the ammo is pretty shit, overall meh
cromwell I - might be my favourite amongst cruisers, good mobility and good gun
avenger - it's a cromwell with a 17-pounder and a weird turret with a hat, overall still good
challenger - sidegrade to avenger - ok
comet - I haven't even researched it, that reload combined with solid shot and still being cromwell with no reverse is just awful
spinoffs:
crusader aa mk1 - it's your typical bofors aa on pretty mobile hull - pretty good

About AA, yeah it can be painful if you want to actually survive. I have a ton of SL so i don't mind converting it into mission score. Every trip was a one way trip, so i could even spawn another plane without the need to do the trip back to rearm.
Remember to set your SAS, Rocket salvo and ripple quantity (so you unload anything without the constraint of your finger press) and to change the aiming reticle from guns to rockets. It's pretty precise if you do that

Obsolete and not touched since ancient times before IRCCM and ARH, just like the early MiG-29. Before the Su-27 FM was fixed it used to be the only good Soviet dogfighter at top tier, but it always lacked reliable dogfighting missiles. I wouldn't touch it until it gets rebalanced with R-73s and R-77s at 13.0 ADF-style to be a direct counterpart to the AV-8B Radar.

It's worth it if nothing else to have another good abrams to spawn, and it costs 50k less RP to grind, my recommendation:

>grind M1, M1A1, IPM1
>grind HC
>research the AIM with squadron research
>get the clickbait if you want to paypig once you have the AIM and HC
>research M1A2s
imo this is the best way to grind the tree without leaving BR holes in your lineup and you'll have the most fun as well. I got the clickbait on sale, and only had the m1a1 and ipm1 grinded and the turret armor makes a world of difference between getting lolpenned and dying instantly to leo spam, and actually surviving and having fun.
