I don't know what to tell you. If you can't enjoy that world and take it at face value you just might never be able to connect with the material because you're too young. Or too autistic or something.
I just finished season 1 of TNG and have yet to fall in love with it. I want to have a really innocent and corny fandom like the types of people who were late 80s early 90s trekkies, but it's too late for me. I've only seen TOS in bits and pieces but it's a corny 60s show like Batman kind of. Not the same tone as what was trying to be harder scifi later on. Even the movies they did were way more advanced than the original show.1, 2,3,4, and 6 were all solid. The first is a bit draggy though. The fifth was directed by Shatner and fully blows. Nimoy was a successful director across genres. He directed Three Men and a Baby as well as the best Trek movies.
