I bought land and build a house with money I had saved and my grandparent's left me when they died. Property taxes are going to be bad in about 10 years though. I'm a little over an hour outside of a metro area and its expanding faster than I thought it would. Thankfully a good chunk of the area around me a state park and public woods. Phase Connect.
